Love Letter To The Screen
In the days before I was let loose with my own camera and shooting my own footage, I was 'just' an editor who played with other peoples' much better filming. For some reason, one day I started laying out all these clips in my editor that had stuck with me from a bunch of random films, and started trying to connect them all together into one unified piece. The theme? Love, of course. And cinema.
I think there's a lot to be said for just playing around sometimes, and I wasn't really thinking too much about what this video was until I got to the final stages and was trying to make sure the clips linked and journeyed to an end that made sense. I don't really know what it is, other than a montage of clips from some loved films (plus one I snuck in there of myself), in service of bigging up some of cinema's great romantic and anti-romantic moments. It's quite fun to watch, but as my mate pointed out at the time, gets quite dark in the middle. Don't worry, it's just the darkness before the dawn.
